Mission 8 · AXIS Launch

The front door: form and page

Your business has a front door anyone can open from a link, with a clear sign of which messages each person agrees to.

Result

Your business has a front door anyone can open from a link, with a clear sign of which messages each person agrees to.

Estimated time
50 minutes
Cost
US$ 0. A domain, if you use one, is paid for separately.

Analogy

The front door with the house-rules sign.

At the entrance of a guesthouse there's a door and, next to it, a sign with the house rules. The sign has two boxes: "Wake-up call at 7?" and "Hear about our deals?" Each guest checks only what they want.

Your form is the door: every new client enters your system through it. The consent checkboxes are the sign: they say which messages you'll send, and she picks each one.

No box comes checked. She's the one who says yes.

Why it matters

Alba built her form with a single, pre-checked box: "I agree to receive messages." It worked for a month. When she submitted her A2P campaign to start texting clients, it came back rejected: the box was pre-checked and mixed reminders with promotions. She had to rebuild the form and wait for another review. The door worked; the sign was wrong.

Step-by-step guide

Menu paths are shown as they appear in the English interface, with the Spanish name in parentheses for teams that work in Spanish. Everything happens inside your sub-account. You'll use the "Service of interest" field from mission 6. In the Spanish interface the builder is translated (Editar, Configuración, Envíos…), but the elements in the «Elemento de formulario» panel stay in English (T & C, Phone…), except Text, which shows up mistranslated as «Enviar mensaje d…».

  1. Decide what comes through the door

Fields: name, email, phone and "Service of interest." Ask only for what you'll use.

Consent checkboxes: one per purpose and per channel. For the practice account: appointment reminders by text, promotions by text and promotions by email.

All three are unchecked and optional: the form can be submitted without checking any.

    Key points

    • For HighLevel and the carriers, having someone's phone number isn't permission to text them. Permission is the box the person checked.
    • Keeping reminders separate from promotions is a HighLevel rule for texting in the U.S. AXIS applies it everywhere: each person chooses what they receive.

  2. Build the form

    Sites → Forms → + Create form

In a Spanish-language account: Sitios → Formularios → (botón para crear un formulario)

Open Sites → Forms and choose + Create form. HighLevel instantly creates a form called "Form 0" and opens the builder. Rename it at the top, where it says "Form 0": "Contact form AX-7K2Q."

The new form already includes First Name, Last Name, Phone and Email. The last two come required.

It also includes one T & C element with two checkboxes in English: T & C 1, for non-marketing texts, and T & C 2, for marketing texts. Their texts carry unfilled placeholders like "[BUSINESS NAME]" and "[USE_CASE_FROM_CAMPAIGN_DESCRIPTION]," and a "Privacy Policy | Terms of Service" footer appears below.

Select the T & C element to see its settings. It has a single Required setting for both boxes, unchecked by default: make sure it stays that way. There's no option to pre-check them.

Replace both texts with the ones in step 3: T & C 1 gets the reminders text and T & C 2 the text-promotions one. Each checkbox has its own editor, with a button for adding links.

Add "Service of interest" from the Form Element panel, Add Object Fields tab.

For email promotions, create a custom field in the builder of type Checkbox, with a single option.

At the bottom, add a Text element (the panel's Customized section) with your code, like Ref. AX-7K2Q. Keep it until mission 12 is verified, then delete it.

Under Settings → On Submit, write the thank-you message: "Thanks, we'll get back to you today." Save with Save, at the top.

    Key points

    • Making the phone required is allowed. What can't be required is checking the messages box.
    • The T & C element's single Required setting covers both boxes: check it and both become required. Leave it unchecked.
    • The builder's tabs are Edit, Settings, Submissions, Notifications and Analytics. Preview, Integrate and Save sit at the top.

  3. Write the sign

Reminders: "I agree to receive appointment messages (confirmations and reminders) from Alba Studio at the number provided. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help and STOP to opt out."

Promotions by text: "I agree to receive promotional text messages from Alba Studio at the number provided. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help and STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase."

Promotions by email: "I agree to receive promotional emails from Alba Studio. I can unsubscribe at any time."

If you're practicing with your own business, replace Alba Studio with its name in all three texts.

The footer links, "Privacy Policy" and "Terms of Service," point to https://www.example.com. The public sees that footer as is, just like the checkbox placeholders if you don't replace them. Today, delete it or swap in your own links: never leave an example link.

If you already have a privacy policy and terms, those are the footer links. You don't need them today to practice with test data. Before a real person fills out the form, in mission 12 at the latest, you link your privacy policy. HighLevel also requires both before a texting campaign (lesson I.4.3). You'll build a minimal one in mission 12.

    Key points

    • Carriers reject texting campaigns for pre-checked boxes, for mixing marketing with notices, or for required consent. Getting it right today saves you that rejection.
    • In the EU, a pre-checked box isn't valid consent. AXIS asks for explicit consent everywhere, because it holds up in every market.

  4. Put it on a page

Sites → Funnels → New Funnel → From Blank

In a Spanish-language account: Sitios → Embudos → Nuevo embudo → En blanco

Open Sites → Funnels, choose New Funnel and then From Blank. Keep a single step.

On the page, add a headline with the business name and drag in your form.

Save and use the preview to see how it looks.

If your domain is already connected for sites under Settings → Domains & URL Redirects, publish. If not, leave the page saved: publishing would ask you for a domain. You'll connect it and publish in lesson I.3.3.

    Key points

    • The door doesn't need a house to open: the form has its own public link, which works without a domain. You'll use it in the next step.

  5. Share the door and test it

Sites → Forms → (your form) → Integrate → Copy Form Link

In a Spanish-language account: Sitios → Formularios → (tu formulario) → Integrar → (enlace del formulario)

In your form, choose Integrate and copy the direct link with Copy Form Link.

The link looks like https://api.leadconnectorhq.com/widget/form/<ID> and opens without logging in.

Open it in a private browser window, without your login.

Fill it in as Test AX-7K2Q, with an example email like test.ax7k2q@example.com. For the phone, use yours, never a made-up one. Check only the reminders box and leave the promotion boxes empty.

Submit and check the entry under Sites → Forms → Submissions. The new contact also shows up in Contacts.

    Key points

    • Always test in a private window. If the browser remembers your details, later entries can overwrite the same contact.
    • The Share option in the forms list doesn't give you the link: it copies the form to another sub-account.
    • Don't use the preview address as your public link: HighLevel doesn't document it as public or stable.

Interactive

The sign before you open the door

This interactive is used inside your AXIS account.

  1. 06Build
  2. 07Prove
  3. 08Check
  4. 09Teach it

This happens in your account.

Building, proving, checking and explaining in your own words happen inside your AXIS account, with your personal code and AXIS Tutor at your side.

  • Build. The task in your own HighLevel account, with its “done” criterion.
  • Prove. You upload your evidence and an AI reviews it first.
  • Check. Four questions, each option with its explanation.
  • Teach it. You explain it in your own words.

If it breaks

The mistakes that repeat most, and the way out.

When I publish the page, it asks for a domain.

That's expected. Save the page and share the form link. Connecting the domain and publishing come in lesson I.3.3.

My tests keep updating the same contact.

Test in a private window with a different email each time. The browser can remember your details and attach them to the first contact. If you reuse your phone number, entries can attach too: HighLevel looks up contacts by email, then by phone. If you need another test entry, delete the earlier test contact first.

I'm not sure the boxes are optional.

Open the link in a private window and submit without checking any box. If it goes through, they're optional; if it stops you, uncheck Required on the element that stopped you: the T & C element or your email box.

My test entry doesn't show up.

Check under Sites → Forms → Submissions that you're looking at your form. If the contact isn't in Contacts either, the entry didn't arrive: submit it again.

I don't have a privacy policy.

You don't need it today to practice with test data. Link it before a real person fills out the form, in mission 12 at the latest, where you'll build a minimal one; HighLevel also requires it before a texting campaign.
